Rhizome

Plants that are classified as a rhizome plant grow from a single large stem. This type of plant sends out roots and leaves from a single, large central stem, called the rhizome or creeping rootstalk. Rhizome plants have short internodes. On each node, roots grow from the bottom part of the rhizome and leaves grow from the top part of the rhizome.
