Planted Tanks #4 – The World Before Columbus

Today’s feature aquascape is by Pasquale Buonpane from Italy, which is entitled ‘The World Before Columbus’.

This aquascape is a beautifully crafted natural Iwagumi-style aquascape with only four aquatic plants species, two of which are mosses. The hardscape details for this aquascape is not provided. Note that this aquascaper used small aquatic plants to magnify the sense of vastness of the aquascape.

Planted Tanks #3 – Beyond Horizon

This week’s feature aquascape is titled Beyond Horizon by Siak Wee Yeo from Malaysia. This is a concave type aquascape with great depth. Mosses are used extensively in this layout to cover rock edges, creating a natural feel in the aquascape.

Planted Tanks #2 – Mystique

Today’s feature aquascape is a concave iwagumi mountain style. This lovely aquascape by Hector Baca won an honorable mention in AGA aquacaping contest in 2011. The use of lava rocks in this layout contrasts with the choice of small plants and mosses to create a stunning visual effect. The careful arrangement of lava rocks creates a sense of scale and perspective in this layout.

This tank is featured in the 2011 AGA Aquascaping Contest. The title for this aquascape is Alongside by Hui Kam Man from Hong Kong.

This impressive aquascape is very rich in texture, colour and hardscape details. The use of wood branches, roots, and rocks are extensive, drawing the eye everywhere across the aquascape.
