Anabantids

Anabantids are classified as labyrinth fishes since they possess auxiliary breathing organ that helps them to breathe terrestrial oxygen. In nature, most anabantids live in oxygen-deficient environments, such as stagnant ponds and ditches. Some anabantids possess beautiful shapes and colouration and, therefore, are good additions to aquascapes. Be aware that some male anabantids, such as the Betta and Paradise Fish, should be kept alone since multiple males in one tank will induce aggression.
