Cichlids are not normally kept in an aquascape because of their large size and messy nature. Most cichlids are omnivorous and love to move ornaments in the aquarium around and, therefore, are not very aquascaping-friendly. They are commonly kept in a biotope, which is an aquarium that attempts to reproduce the same environmental and water conditions of the species’ natural habitat. However, some cichlids, such as angelfish, discuss, and rams, are compatible to keep in an aquascape.
